Mark Pincus Interviewed by CNN

Mark Pincus was interviewed recently about his company’s online games by CNN. Watch this short video interview and let us know what you think.

So what do you think about how the company is being handled? Do you think they should release an Initial public offering (IPO)?

An initial public stock offering (IPO) referred to simply as an “offering” or “flotation,” is when a company (called the issuer) issues common stock or shares to the public for the first time. They are often issued by smaller, younger companies seeking capital to expand, but can also be done by large privately-owned companies looking to become publicly traded.

FarmVille Fanatic Jake’s Farm

Since its a slow news day with nothing new to really report on, I thought it would be fun to get some feedback on my new farm design. I should have taken a before picture, but oh well. Erin and I spent several hours on Sunday re-designing our farms as we have been overloaded with items lately. I will see if she wants to post hers later as well. Without further ado, here is my newest creation!

Make sure you click to see it more up close!

I sold off a LOT of items and decided to go back to a more basic approach, I was tired of the stuffy non farm looking thing my land had become, Erin was writhing in agony as I deleted all my elephants, penguins, reindeer and more animals. :P I even tossed almost all my Christmas, fair and V-day items from storage to the wind!

So what do you think? Is it too minimal for your taste? I plan on replacing the white barn with the new Provencal Barn shortly as well! Feel free to leave an image or link to your farm in the comments if you would like us and others to have a look!

Copyright and Policy Change

Note: If you are not interested in laws, site politics and etc.. Feel free to skip this post and go about your business. This will be our last post on this subject for a while. We have removed the names of sites we are referring to as we will be handling this from a legal standpoint now.

FarmVille Fanatic will officially be changing it policy on one particular website. Normally we receive a lot of user submissions every single day, in the past we have checked most of the other popular blogs to make sure this content was not “stolen/borrowed” from others and that we were giving proper credit. However in light of an announcement from a certain competitor website that they do not check our site and that no images belong to either them or us or anyone else (only Zynga) we will no longer be bothering to check their site (we will continue to credit and check other sites). This means that any content submitted from their site we will no longer be aware of and if it gets posted then oh-well. This also means that they should not be watermarking any images (which we know they will) as they do not belong to them (can you say hypocrite?).

Our intentions are not to start a war, but if that’s what comes about then it is what it is. Zynga’s lawyers have contacted us on many occasions to let us know that our use of Zynga’s official logo is strictly forbidden for use on our site (and all non Zynga sites) as well as the FarmVille Secrets advertisements and the uploading/hosting of unreleased items onto our server. Our competitor site is and has been doing all of these for a long time now and yet claims that they have never been contacted and they are doing nothing wrong (clearly breaking copyright laws is a-ok!).

We at FarmVille Fanatic have had enough with other sites stealing our words and images we personally take and re-posting them without asking or crediting. We have been working with Zynga’s lawyers to make sure our site is compliant with all rules and that we are in the clear. We are now officially issuing DMCA take down forms for any site we find to be copying our content. We are also formally filling complaints of copyright infringement for any blogs using the official FarmVille logo and Displaying FarmVille Secrets’  advertisements (a purely scam site) that copy our work.

To our users we will apologize for what you may think is complaining, but we DO have limited copyright enforcements and will be taking this seriously. You are free to view other blogs and go about it as you will, but we are also free to take action and occasionally complain when our content is “borrowed” without giving credit.

Feel free to throw us on Encyclopedia Dramatica now. :D

For anyone who hasn’t read our Disclaimer you need to realize that we DO hold copyright and can in fact have content you steal from us removed and have your hosting shut down for multiple violations.

A Plethora of Unreleased Items!

Good morning/evening/middle of the night! Here is a big update on some unreleased items for you to drool over :D . Once again, some of these items may come out, and others may not. There is no way to tell for sure. A big thanks to the people at FarmViller (Shiori?!) for leads on some of these!

Provencal Farmhouse

Pot of Gold (Alternative? Item? Who knows...)

Old Bike

Planter

Gold Crate

Gold Bucket

Gold Beetle

Green Mystery Gift

Note: The images you see above are hosted on FarmVille.com’s official servers. As FarmVille Fanatic (a fan blog), we do not claim to own them. All graphics are copyright Zynga. FarmVille Fanatic is in no way officially associated with Zynga or FarmVille the game. We are a news site and report on our findings.

I am really loving the Chateau Provencal buildings – so the Provencal Farmhouse is amazing. I personally wish they would release something similar to the bucket without it being completely gold. I do also like the Planter and the Old Bike though!

Which of these do you hope come out for your farm?
