Welcome to FarmVille Fanatic! I’m the site creator, owner and biggest Fanatic, Jake. This site was born one day when I decided with a little bit of coaxing (I’m lazy!) from my awesome girlfriend (Erin) to create a FarmVille informational site with all my random knowledge from many, many long hours on the Official Forums. Since I discovered FarmVille in early October 2009 I have loved it, most of the time I cant bring myself to turn the computer off late into the night.
I realized early on that there was many unique ways to play and utilize the very most out of the game. I began searching the internet and found that while the information is out there, it can be hard to locate and piece together. I ran into many sites wanting me to buy a book or shoving cheat programs down my throat. I decided to bring it all together and help save others the hassle I had to go through just to get simple information.
When I started this site, it was nothing more than a cool side project. It started on a free host with about 10GB of bandwidth. After about a week of being up we started to get our first real traffic. Many Fanatics from all over the world started using the site and emailing and messaging me on the forums. I soon realized that they were spreading the word of the new site like wildfire. At this point we hadn’t even bought a domain name; we were merely “Informational FarmVille Site”. I realized we needed a real name to make our place. After a few days of throwing ideas back and forth with Erin, we came up with FarmVille Fanatic.
This is where the site started to seriously grow into more of a full time job than a side project. After about 2 more weeks we had blown through our 10GB bandwidth and started seeking out new hosts. We found a new free host that offered 100GB of bandwidth. At the time this seemed like we would never need to upgrade again. How naive we were… Somewhere around this point we started gaining many new friends and staff members for the site, we began to grow into a community and no longer were we just an information site. After about a week or two our site was deleted from this newest host with no warning, we were eating through their bandwidth and resources like Cookie Monster eats a box of cookies!
After several more free hosts we wised up and moved to paid shared hosting then a VPS. This lasted about 2 months before once again moving to a dedicated server. This all brings us to about where we are today, a bustling active site with THOUSANDS of users daily. We put a lot of work and pride into the site, our staff is great and we consider ourselves a big family. We welcome everyone to enjoy the site and become a part of this Fanatic family. Just behave or no allowance for you.
